Design and Technology

Foreword

Design and Technology is a very diverse subject which has many
areas of study.

The courses gives an unique chance within the curriculum for candidates to discover and solve realistic problems by designing and making products using a wide variety of methods in keeping with personal interests.

Design and Technology develops candidates’ interdisciplinary skills, all six Key Skills and their capacity for imaginative thinking, creativity and innovation.

Candidates can study the course in one of three aspects:

Assessment

Unit 1: Design and Technology in the 21st Century

Written examination: 2 hours 50% of qualification

Unit 2: Design and make task

Non-exam assessment: approximately 35 hours 50% of qualification
